Why can't I find Purell in Japan?

I've looked everywhere and I can't find Purell here in Tokyo. What's the deal with that? I would think that a big city like Tokyo would sell hand sanitizer everywhere. Anyone know where to find it??

You can buy hand sanitizer at pretty much any drug store.

At first I was surprised to learn that I had to go to drug stores even to get really basic medicine like simple headache remedies. I was also startled by how unpopular pure aspirin was.

That will change on the 1st June. Other retailers will have permission to sell OTC drugs provided there isa "registered seller" on the premises.

Be prepared to pay about 1000 yen for a small (maybe 30-50 ml) size bottle of hand sanitizer here. Think the last one I bought in Canada (within the last year) was $1.29 or so for a 250 ml bottle.
