Composer Takashi Miki Dies

Composer Takashi Miki, who wrote the music for hit songs like "Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyu Geshiki" for Sayuri Ishikawa (shown performing in the clip above) has died at the age of 64 after a lengthy battle with cancer. That's only a few years older than Kiyoshi Iwamano who also died recently but the two men operated in different areas of the entertainment world. Miki also wrote music for Teresa Teng, theatrical companies like Shiki and Takarazuka and songs like "Ampanman March" below. Whether you know it or not, if you have spent more than a year or so in Japan, you will have undoubtedly heard the work of Takashi Miki.
