The "gaijin" in this show looks more Japanese than gaijin to me. He is Half -- his mother is Japanese. I haven't see the show, but was he chosen because he can speak Japanese? His is old enough to be her father too, he was born in '57. Good on him!

Something tells me she should have NO problem finding foreigners willing to date her ;). (One word of advice though, potential candidates should brush up on who's who in the J dorama scene. Wouldn't want the conversation petering out after 40 minutes now would we...).

That's Chris Peppler, the host of Tokyo Eye. He was born to an American father and Japanese mother and raised in the States. He speaks English as a native as a result, but from what I can tell, also speaks Japanese fluently as well.

Kazue's comments regarding her English teachers and her co-stars is puzzling to me. I mean, if I mentioned someone I knew to any of you, and you had no idea who I was talking about, would that mean we couldn't communicate in English and there was a language gap, or simply that...you had no idea who I was talking about? Seems like a dumb thing to say. But what the hell do I know.

It's The Japan Times and it isn't going to around for much longer.

Savour it (except for Amy Chavez's column) while you can.

According to his J Wiki, he was born and raised in Tokyo (his father is American), went to an int'l school here, went to college in the States, then came back to Japan. Definitely one of the more bilingual haafu and/or gaijin in the J entertainment scene.

Chris Peppler is awesome. He was on that Sora Mimi show with Tamori and he would usually give the native English speaker perspective on the misheard sora mimi clips.

He was on on few occasions, at least on the newer Tamori Club episodes. It's been a while since I've watched it on TV and those copyright nazis seemed to have taken down all the videos on Youtube.

exactly...what the hell do you know. your comments on who you know is also pretty puzzling.

I mean I whacked off to Paula Abdul when I was younger, but she's kinda haggard...I get the feeling her muff smells like 1,4-diaminobutane.
