Gadget store in Tokyo

Postby Jack » Fri Jul 11, 2003 1:08 am

Is there a store in Tokyo that sells gadgets, electronic or otherwise, that could impress North Americans? I am aware of Akihabara (no gadgets but lots of electronics) and Tokyu Hands, but I am wondering if there is something else that I should know about. The reason I am asking is that I want to buy some unique gifts to take back home and impress young kids (11 to 15 years old) in my family who have almost everything available in North America.

Thanks in advance.

I've bought by skaterboy nephews k-cool T-shirts from J-List
Image with mega-kool success.
The 13yr-old boys liked all the semi-porn Anime too. 8)

Cool! I want one... it does come in colours other than that hideous brown I hope. What would be the general reaction if a FG wore that on the streets of Tokyo?

The Hello Kitty and Doraemon vibrators always seem to impress my friends back home. I think I bought about 20 last time from the 100 yen store in Kabuki-cho.

Azobit City

Try Azobit City in Akihabara, it's 8 floors of video games, CDs, robot toys and... porn.

They really do have a ton of different stuff, including the fluffy robot cat and some interesting toys.

It's on the main drag in Akiba, ask anyone and they'll point you towards it.

Note that I specifically mentioned the one in kabuki-cho. First time I bought one of these for a friend who loved Doraemon, I thought it was a toothbrush. I thought, Oh she'll like this unique toothbrush. Boy, was it unique alright. Of course, she's probably using it to brush something different...
