Yahoo! auctions - Zero rating...How the fuck do I get it up?

Postby Mr Doricar » Wed Jul 22, 2009 12:29 am

Paid for the fucking premium membership...500yen a month I think, and I still can't fucking bid on anything as it always says "You do not meet sellers requirements". Because I don't have any points/rating etc.
How the fuck do I get some points if I can't bid/buy anything? It's driving me crazy. There's something that's super cheap with 23 hours to go and I want it!!!! Rant over

There is no seller block on yahoo for someone with zero feedback.

There are three possible reasons you may not be able to bid:

1) The seller canceled a previous bid of yours and blacklisted you. Some sellers on Yahoo will do this due to the high number of problems with zero feedback buyers.

2) Although there is no zero feedback block on Yahoo there is a block for if you have negative (ie -1) feedback or lower. If your total feedback number is negative your current account is pretty much screwed.

3) If you used a foreign address and foreign credit card to sign up. 99% or more of sellers refuse to ship internationally and you will be automatically blocked from their auctions. Even though you are in Japan the system sees you as being overseas.

Solutions:

1) If you've been blacklisted by the seller you can try to ask them via email (their ID @yahoo.co.jp) to unblock you but they might not. If not you can just move on or you can create a new account. If you create a new account be sure to ask the seller via the auction question section if you can bid otherwise you'll just get your new account blacklisted too.

2) If your feedback is negative but you used a Japanese credit card to sign up with Yahoo Auctions then just cancel your premium membership on the current account and create a new Yahoo Auctions account. Upgrade that to premium and you are good to go.

3) If your address/credit card is foreign then likely your only solution is to ask a Japanese friend to set up an account for you to use. This has a fair amount of risk in it for the Japanese friend as they are giving you their CC information which you can then use to charge stuff on Yahoo. It's not really a fair request to make unless you are very close to the person you are asking.

Hope this helps.

Can you give me the item number you are looking at? Or a link to the page? Via PM is fine.

I've bought a lot of stuff on Yahoo over the years. Unless something has changed there isn't a block for zero feedback buyers... Would be pretty strange for Yahoo to do that as it would essentially make it impossible for new users to get into the site. The only thing I can think of is that the automotive section of Yahoo Auctions may have different rules to the non-automotive section. That's why I would like to have a look at the item in question.

Shuuuuush! Don't tell him that, you'll spoil it! ;)

More seriously, Doricar PM'd me his Yahoo ID and the problem has been found.

And of course you've already drained all his bank accounts and max'ed out all his credit cards?

If not send the info to me.....
