I completely disagree. If this was on any number of my cameras, I would use it on a regular basis. I do a LOT of party photos for R&B events and this would make things a lot easier if I could just say "screw this" and tell people to look at the wall rather than the LCD on the back of my D90 and D300. They're large for DSLR's but teeny in the grand scheme of things.
I day this is practical, simply because I can take pictures and instead of fucking around with wires and finding a TV with front-imputs or perhaps having a camera that only does HDMI and having a TV close by that DOESN'T have HDMI input, I can just turn on the projector and away I go. Now if it comes with a remote (wired or wireless, either would be amazingly good) then it is a great idea to include. For my market and the people I work for, this would save lots of time and would certainly be a unique reason to hire me as I could give on the spot examples of what I just took a picture of.
This is a GREAT idea and I seriously hope more cameras will be including it. Hell, for the price of $200 (saw on Engadget), I'll be buying six of them as Christmas gifts.
I think it's very cool! Probably using a high-intensity white LED light source, which will drain the battery, of course, but probably not a whole lot more than a large LCD monitor.
If it can load external jpegs it might also be a quick and easy way to do presentations for clients. No need to plug into a DOHP, or even carry around a computer. It could turn out to be very handy for some things.
