Postby fatslug » Tue Jan 17, 2006 11:23 pm

So ive recenty thought about transferring to Osaka from Tokyo for a change though still want the busy lifestyle...

Has anyone lived in both cities before ? Ive been to osaka once but not long enough to really get the vibe of the place ...

So what do you guys think of Osaka to live, work and play ??

good place ? or stay in tokyo ?

Time to revive an old thread... Clear!

I've heard a lot of talk about Osaka like this. It's said the people are friendlier and it's generally better craic overall. I'm heading to Japan for the first time in September for about a year. Would you think it might be a better idea to base myself in Osaka than Tokyo? Of course I'll make a few trips to the capital but for general quality of living and meeting new people, would Osaka be better? Bear in mind that I've no confirmed job... I can only assume it's easier to get work in Tokyo, but still I'm sure I'll find something.

Thanks chaps.

my preference is osaka/kansai. that might be because my first trip there was to visit a good friend there and i got to spend lots of time exploring it on bike and seeing kansai. so for me, kansai is the 'real japan'. the centre is well defined, umeda on the north, namba at the south, with fantastic places like amemura, shinsaibashi in between. kyoto is 25 minutes away on the fast train, nara is not much more, kobe the same. any time i had friends come to visit me in osaka, in 3 or 4 days i could show them all of osaka with a day trip to kyoto or nara and they left feeling as if they really saw japan. tokyo has so many centres that any time i've been there, i always felt that it's too time consuming to get around anywhere outside of the 'centre' that you're currently in.

my 4,5 years in japan were based in osaka with trips to tokyo only as needed.

The answer to that is simply that you weren't needed in Tokyo. We of the intelligentsia who gather here where the elite meet, (i.e. watash, Iraira, Take and Rob Pongi et al) figured we'd just leave you in Namba, so as not to disturb the local Wa up here.....

Us elites in Tokyo do not want those kansai low lives heading up our way so you can wave around your proud flag all you want.

Strange how no one from Tokyo ever chooses to move to Osaka...

Probably because, while Osaka girls are more aggressive, they are also hairer (physically and during relationship-based altercations)...and as the Kansai girl I had a fight with in my dreams last night said to me, "What you just did cannot be fixed even with 60 minutes of oral sex."

I think the problem there is how you are giving the oral sex..

I tried sucking on dry ice before, so she'd get a snap, crackle, and pop sensation. Guy who pierced my tongue some 16 years ago said that it cuts down on the duration that you need to focus on certain regions to achieve the desired effect.
