M4 in Tokyo. The tenki jp site is down, probably from server overload. Those guys need to seriously upgrade their shit server and have that early warning system up and working already.

It was a 6.9 magnitude (4 on Japan scale)

I never use Tenki.jp. I always use the JMA site for all weather/earthquake information in English.

Epicenter located somewhere in Chiba methinks, downgraded to a 3 here in Yokohama. Shee-it, was a big enough one though...I had to rush getting on some pants and a t-shirt just in case....

up and down movement was very similar to the big one I felt waaay back in the philippines (early 90's) that was a 8 on the Richter scale. It felt just the same, small waves and then WHAM! all of a sudden the ground lifted and no way you could stand up. Was worried that might happen here too....

Yeah, I put on my pants and grabbed my keitai and the pack of cigarettes, just in case. :smoking:

Yeah, usually these things don't phase me at all, but this time I actually positioned myself away from anything that could fall on me and was thinking of an escape route just in case.

Yeah, this is the first earthquake *ever* where I actually got off my ass and moved myself to somewhere safer. Usually I just roll my eyeballs and keep doing whatever I was doing. Now that I think of it, I wonder if the reason is that there hasn't really been a substantial earthquake in Tokyo (that I recall) for a really long time, so my adrenalin kicked in.

The overseas media are already jumping on this as major "news" so I got a call from back home to ensure I was OK. I knew this was going to happen because this false alarm happens every time. I told them I was trapped under the building rubble and needed help.

I was in a club, drunk leaning against a concrete wall and when it started to move I thought, I'm not that drunk. Drunk enough though to just laugh it off. Lucky it wasn't closer to the city

Don't you guys remember a big one back in 04? I was on the 6th floor of a hospital out near Noborito and that shook the shit outta the place. Perhaps because I was underground in a concrete bunker I didn't feel this one as much. That and the booze.

It's because the epicenter was closer to us than yesterday's quake.

Definitely felt bigger here than yesterday's.
