I haven't heard that it has any significant gameplay improvements over the PS2 version, so I think I'll stick with my PS2 copy.

Yeah, no mention of multiplayer either... I was looking forward to fighting it out with others over the Internet... oh well.

Out of it

Postby kamome » Thu May 23, 2002 2:33 pm

Sorry guys, I think I have been living under a rock lately, but what's Grand Theft Auto about? Can you post a basic info link on the game, so I can determine if it should be my next purchase for my PS2?

Are any shops selling GTA3 in Tokyo? Tzone has it listed as `coming soon`.

GTA3 fun facts!

Postby kamome » Wed May 29, 2002 4:16 pm

Guys, I went to a very large Sofmap store looking for GTA3 for the PS2, and guess what? They told me the game isn't sold in Japan and that there weren't plans to bring it over from the States. Uh....this sucks.

Ultra: Also, that Sofmap store has computers with huge multimedia flat screens on display with free internet access. So, I took it upon myself to get some free publicity out there for FG. I went to all the computers and logged on to FG, but at each computer, I went to different parts of the site (i.e. one computer for the front page, another computer for shots of mini-G, etc.). Then for good measure, I used another computer to get onto engrish.com. Maybe someone noticed, maybe not, but it was fun anyway.

You are one gaming badass. Maybe there should be an FG counter-strike server?

GTA-deprived in Japan

Postby kamome » Thu May 30, 2002 8:26 pm

Damn, maybe I ought to import an American PS2 just so I can play GTA3 in Japan. That seems to be the only way to do it (unless I find someone who can mod my Japanese PS2 for me).

Buy a PC... the PC version is much better than the PS/2 one.

Hey Ultra

Have you played the PC version on a Japanese PC? I lent my copy to a friend of mine who's running Japanese XP on his VAIO, and he says that the text comes up with little square boxes (that usually means the fonts are screwed up or the code page is wrong). :?:

I had the same problem. It's a DirectX problem. You need to download this patch.
