kay, any idea what is the best software to convert music from tape / vinyl to mp3? i got a creative audigy platinum, so got the connections , but what soft should i buy to do it?
also, any idea what package will let me then edit the mp3s and take samples from them? a mate of the wife said he would be happy to bring his record and tape collection round one of these days, mostly stuff from the 60s and 70s, plus tons of interesting radio shows i'd love to hear and use as language practice..
i was thinking of buying a digital dictation machine, when i thought.. perhaps i could use my mdisk instead? the sharp one is up the creek, but the newer sony one (yeh i know, it was a present, i would never buy sony..) is fine, couldnt see in the manual anything about using a microphone though... is this possible?
the video question is..

the wife has an old video 8 camera, and i bought a second hand capture card - external but it only works on win 98/95 and we run xp, i know i could do a dual boot, but at the mo, ghost only seems to work if i have 2 hds, at the moment i dont, so was wondering...
i read somewhere ages ago that you could buy a audio video out to usb adaptor , that seems very slow , does one exist for audio video to firewire? and would my system recognise the device this way? my viewcam is recognised straight away, but a decade old point shooter???
just a thought really...
