What is with these people trying to make Jack feel bad about his achievements? Some people out there are pretty jealous of the man, so their comments are rather telling about themselves.

I am not jealous at all and as a foreign female I am very very pleased not to be a possible target from the likes of him. These are the types of sleezy guys who try to hit on anything in a skirt not because they want to meet people, but rather just to get as many notches on the bed-post as some sort of sad and pathethic self validation process.

No one is accusing the females here of jealousy of Jack, as if they would be. Females are not males! Tina, it is possible to leave marriages to go back to a different lifestyle, but people aren't really meant to, and they won't want to if they love their wife etc.

When I said that some people want to get out of marriages, but can't, I meant they can't really escape because they have too much tied up in their marriage relationship.

For example, they might want to get out, but can't do so because they don't want to lose custody of their children. They also don't want to lose a great deal of their possessions such as their current house etc, due to a divorce. Marriage is a legal contract, with real-life penalties for breaking that contract.

When people make commitments, options close. That is the 'opportunity cost' of marriage!

Not exactly. You claimed the you could essentially bang any young, attractive Japanese girl you wanted. You claimed that you can and do pick them up off the street and even take photos of the action. I said that I find this difficult to believe and that most Japanese girls probably don't want anything to do with you and you shouldn't confuse everyday girls with the ones hanging out in the Gaijin bars of Roppongi. I still doubt your story and if your numbers are what you claim I just don't believe these are attractive women. A good friend of mine basically did achieve what you said you do but this was in college where girls could be approached in safe environments (not off the street) and, frankly, they just weren't that attractive. Though it's not my style to brag about or view my encounters as conquests or to even keep score, I don't doubt Jack's story. News flash: women like sex. Nothing wrong with that. The act doesn't have to be some deep emotional experience reserved for cases of true love and committment. That kind is good too but so is a romp at the local love hotel. I must admit I never went from meeting a girl on the street directly to a hotel - not really my style. I did meet girls on the street or in bars and arrange dates for the future though. And ended up in a hotel or back at her place or mine at the end of each of those dates. This goes for my experience in Japan and my experience in university in California. Isn't that the way it works? Few were one-timers. Some turned into several week or month relationships, some were girlfriends for years, and one even became my wife.

I don't think Jack will be able to change his ways, especially if he stays in Japan. If he moves to somewhere like America, makes some major change in lifestyle where he will be concentrating on getting a new career going, adjusting to a new city, and thereby spending a lot of time with his wife, he may have a chance. In a big city in Japan where he will still be going out drinking with friends and just wandering around in an area where he might see thousands and thousands of really attractive women every day, he's doomed. (In the states I'm lucky to see one woman a day I'd want in my bed: the rest are just too fat or use too much makeup or something).

I think Jack should just realize that he likes a lot of women. This doesn't mean he can't ever get married. There are perfectly happy, healthy marriages where one or both partners get action on the side. I'm not talking about "swingers" where the spouse knows about or even promotes what is going on. I'm talking about married people who give each other free time to pursue their own hobbies and whether those hobbies are playing basketball or surfing or hanging out with a member of the opposite sex, they don't care. As long as it does not get between them and their spouse, they couldn't care less. That means one can't do anything they will feel guilty about and feel the need to confess. That means no cancelling time with their spouse to go be with someone else. It must be in your free time only. And both people must have the exact same freedom and be totally free of hangups. If one is the jealous type or thinks they own the other once the rings have been exchanged, it won't work.

BTW, a question: I'm assuming you "players" use condoms. Did they ever get some decent sized condoms for sale in Japan? I always had to bring them with me after visiting home or have friends shuffle some over to me when they visited from the states.
