The stigma of an unmarried female is not just in Japan but around the world.

However, being unmarried is not the end of the world and I think some people are recognising this. I just wish I could get my mother to stop trying to set me up with "nice guys" bleech..

eh, it works both ways. Being and unmarried male raises just as many issues. "Why dont you grow up and settle down" , "he's not married, there must be somethign wrong with him" etc etc etc ad infinitum

women dont have the lock on being judged... but they are kinda screwed in that it is arguably easier for a single guy in his 40s to find a wife than a single woman in her 40s to find a husband. Which isn't fair but just how social economics work.

In Japan, an unmarried guy is considered a "playboy" if he's over 30 or so. But unmarried FG guys are automatically considered "playboys" no matter their age.
