The Kanachu bus company has installed bicycle racks on the front of some of its vehicles. Each rack can take two bikes and you can use them for 100 yen a time no matter how long your journey. In Gunma and Hokkaido, it is reasonably common to find space available for bikes inside a bus or at the rear but the company claims this is the first time for bikes to be loaded on the front. During a trial which the company ran from March, around 76% of cyclists who tried the service indicated that they would use it again. Full details of the service in Japanese here (PDF)
