Two foreigners are believed to have robbed a convenience store just after midnight in Okinawa yesterday. The Family Mart in question is 800m up the road from Camp Courtney, and both men have been described as black, so police have contacted the base authorities for help with their initial inquiries. One man entered the shop and went to the counter as if to pay. When the till opened, the other ran in. The 18 year old employee was assaulted, sustaining minor injuries, and one of them then snatched 52,000 yen from the cash tray.

I recall about a decade ago a gaijin teacher at a university here in Shikoku got caught holding up a convienence store. I seem to remember that he had a wee Filipino hostess problem that had landed him in debt to God know who.
Can't figure out for the life of me why anyone would bother. Robbing convienence stores is a) not going to earn you that much money and b) something that police have a fairly good shot at catching you at.
