J-banks saved by dead Hussein family?

J-banks Iraq windfall -- billions of dollars?
Analysts discuss ramifications of Hussein brothers' deaths
ABC Radio / The World Today - Wednesday, 23 July , 2003 12:14:47
...Uday and Qusay...deaths are going to be important both psychologically and practically...Practically, because these people were the money men. They had stashed away millions and millions of dollars in both American dollar notes, and in bullion, to organise so-called resistance to hit and run operations. Without them, that link will be broken. Also, with them will go to the grave the secrets of hundreds and hundreds of big secret bank accounts in Japan and the Arab world in Europe, with them possibly hundreds of millions of, possibly billions of dollars of money would be lost.

Yeah.....Riiiiiiiight. The money will be "lost". The moeny will sit in its accounts until the legal time has passed (thus keeping a number of banks afloat) then absorbed by the banks themselves. Which will suck for the economy of Iraq since the banks in Japan (and other places too) will probly cite international banking law and refuse to divulge any information. And the US won't press them to release that info or money cause we want them to be reliant on US aid forever! (whole thing ;))

Don't know about Japan but in the US, unclaimed property must be remitted to the state after a specified period of time under escheat law.

That is if the bank would ever put it down that the unclaimed property is unclaimed hehehe

I mean all they'd have to do, is shift the money to a new account under a ficticious name, and draw interest from it until eternity.

Besides, would they really want the publicity of say having an account with a set of shady characters like these two?
