Sacred Heart Kindergarten Principal On Drugs Charges

Postby Mulboyne » Sat Oct 03, 2009 10:02 am

Kyodo via Japan Today: Int'l school principal, husband nabbed on marijuana smuggling
The principal of the kindergarten-junior school of the International School of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo and her husband have been arrested on suspicion of smuggling marijuana into Japan from the United States, Tokyo police said Friday. Shirley Lane, 59, who lives in Tokyo, allegedly had her 62-year-old husband Thomas send a parcel containing 5.9 grams of marijuana to her in late September from Florida. The marijuana was found by customs officers at Narita airport near Tokyo. The international school in the Sacred Heart school group said Shirley Lane arrived in Japan to take the post last August. Yvonne Hayes, the headmistress of the international school, told reporters Friday she was so shocked she did not know what to say.

"I got it from a gaijin in Florida."

How could such a dumb person be put in charge of a kindergarten.
? And how stupid could her husband be to think he could get away with sending it. He could have been busted in the US as well.

Again, it could have been sent by her disgruntled ex-husband in Florida.

Stupid! :wall: Stupid! :wall: Stupid! :wall:

It's not so bad when scumbag peddlers on the street get busted (of any nationality), but when someone who is in a position of social responsibility and standing does it it really throws a pall over the FG population in general. It just feeds the local perception that all FGs are drug-addled troublemakers.

There is always going to be that perception of FGs. Trying to toe the line and do everything right is not going to stop it. The Japanese population's view of foreigners is skewed for reasons that often have nothing to do with the actions of the foreigner community in the first place.

There may be a tendency in that direction, but I don't think the cause is hopeless. People often treat me with suspicion at first, but once they get to know me and understand that I don't do drugs or engage in human trafficking or gun-running, or whatever they might initially think, the curse is sort of broken. They then know at least one FG who doesn't fit the pre-conceived notion, and as a result they may be less suspicious in future.

Every little counts!

It's illegal in most countries in the world. Where do you want to start with your movement?

Yea unfortunately it is. Although it is decriminalised or rendered to nothing more than a fine in many states with those countries. The so called dangers of grass are much less than the devastation caused by imprisonment.
Maybe we can start the movement at Taro's place. I'm sure he has some unused land there somewhere.

Nah, Taro's rice ranch is all used up in rice production, although I was surprised when I drove by his spread. First time I ever saw rice plants with five leaves.....

5.9 grams? that's a little more than an eighth of an ounce. no serious user is going to bother with sending that kind of that amount considering the risks.

The school is just round the corner from where I live. I can imagine there's going to be some good TV crew action on monday.

I wonder if her school followed one of those ridiculous 'zero-tolerance' policies wrt kids bringing in a single aspirin or sharing an inhaler. If so, it seems you can't get more zero tolerance than karma.

5.9 is such a random amount. My guess is that the guy sent a quarter and some customs official/cop eyeballed a few grams for themselves. And your right, the average "stoner" goes through about a gram a day, i think......

They should consider changing their name to Sacred Herb Kindergarten to get a slice of the lucrative hippy free love child market.

And change the "headmistress" name. With a name like that, she better be giving one good one.
