Just politely turn them down. I can't imagine there'd be any repercussions.

Agree entirely with Mulboyne. Thank them for their interest, but tell them politely that you are their English teacher and it would be unethical to become involved.
Keep in mind that by turning them down, you may be turning down their money, too. But, in the long run, it works out much better to strongly divide business and pleasure.

I should add to the above post that I have never turned down such an offer in my entire life, so this is a case of "do as I say, not as I do."

i once had a student offer me to take my wife's place while she was in the hospital for a week.

unfortunately for her, in addition to my being still somewhat newly-wed, she was 14 and my father-in-law's boss' grand-daughter.

guess it was one of those 'life-decisions moments' ;)

I think the financial situation is already decided once a sexual advance is made. You bonk her, now you've got a friend with benefits, and one of those benefits is free English lessons. You don't bonk her, and she finds an Engrish teacher who will...

Just say no. I said yes to just about every offer that came along, and it never turned out well. Hell, it's 12 years later and I'm still married to one of them.

(I did turn down the 3 15-year-olds who asked me as a group. That was just common sense, the principal was standing right behind them!)
I have a blog. Last update: August 18, 2013.

Dunno about saying "no". A lot of love hotels have really good acoustics, so your student can practice their pronunciation....
Student: Lim me.
Sensei: Lim you?....Oh, "rim me!"
Student: Ok, I lim you.

I had a private student who quickly made it clear she wasn't interested in eigo so much as mojo. Unfortunately she was a minger, so I eh-to-ne'ed my way out of it. Downside was her cash disappeared with her, but it saved a lot of trouble and embarrassment all round.

I can proudly say I've worked both sides. In college I bagged my J teacher who was a grad student and I've hooked up with several ex students (never while they were taking my class, though).

Yeah, got that one too (but a gurl of my age). Was in for a test dive of the Renault Avantime (Wiki here). And I got like "if you go back home i'll be your wife" that was cute and all but I was imported here by my sugar mama with cats and my metric shittons of stuff not exactly in the mood the pack again. Should have went the 'friend with benefit' way. The car was awesome. Still somewhat friend with the girl, but her new husband is... let say overpossessive and maybe quite insecure. It's one of those case where not doing anything lead to an actual clusterfuck where nobody is really happy or where he should be.

The only one I turned down I don't remember well. I was 4-Y-O at the time. I never made that mistake again. I can always get another job.....

If the student is part of a group of students in a private class, you can trying sticking to the high road and salvaging the class. If she is a private one-to-one student, she's already made up her mind. The money is gone. One way or the other, that fish is gonna swim. If I were you, I'd take the low road and get what I could while it's still on offer...8)

I think the best answer I got here was to take the low-road, because 1 way or another the money is gone once she's made up her mind. I will be stubborn though, and probably try to talk her out of it, and have her remain as solely a student. Who knows? I may get lucky, take the fatherly role, scold her, and have her develop some kind of attachment to me (kind of like people pay to see a psychiatrist). I'm Latino, so often times the lines of friendliness and flirtations get blurred. I am out for the money though, so hopefully I can get the golden eggs without having to worrying about screwing the hens.

btw, nice stories AO
