AnimeNewsNetwork: British Anime Net Dancer Beckii Cruel Gets DVD in Japan
Beckii Cruel, the 14-year-old British dancer who rose to Internet fame in Japan by dancing to anime songs in net videos, will make her official Japanese debut via a December 19 DVD called This is Beckii Cruel. The resident of the Isle of Man began posting videos of herself dancing to Japanese anime songs on the YouTube website in early March. By May, the videos had spread to the Nico Nico Douga website in Japan. As of this month, the videos have been seen over 3.3 million times. She will be performing at a stage event in Akihabara Entamatsuri 2009 at the Tokyo otaku shopping district of Akihabara on October 25.
