With Noriko Sakai currently in the courtroom on drugs charges, some netizens are wondering about the wisdom of Ajinomoto using Shizuka Kudo in a recent campaign. Kudo and Sakai are said to be close which has led to speculation about whether Kudo herself might share some of her friend's vices. There's no evidence to suggest Kudo has done anything illegal so Ajinomoto is doing nothing untoward in employing her. However, the current ad shows Kudo sprinkling some unspecified white powder on her apples before eating it rapturously. This has led some to argue that the ad doesn't have the best associations right now (Japanese) given that most people know of the link between the two entertainers.
