The newest episode of a South Park is a big Whale Wars parody... plus the captain gets harpooned.

Nah, this ain't China (yet). Anything that's available on the Internet is available for all to see.

(WARNING: Spoiler below ... if you haven't watched the show, do so before reading).

But lots of crossed messages and irony happening there.

In the end when they're slaughtering chickens and cows in the same way they were slaughtering dolphins and whales, they're accepted as being "normal, just like us." That sort of takes the Japanese side, doesn't it?

Not that I expect J-viewers to get the irony, but the show isn't a one-sided condemnation of the Japanese position (although they are definitely portrayed as being gullible).

Kinda fun.

Yes they don't block the internet but they censor DVDs. The pokemon episode was not on some of the DVDs sold here.

I didn't even realize they sold South Park DVDs here! I'll be durned!

In that case you're probably right.

But that's almost as amazing as the fact that they actually ran The Simpsons on TV for a while. The translation *never* did full justice to the original, essentially turning it into nothing more than a mindless kid's cartoon with none of the parody or innuendo that makes the original so clever.

South Park in Japanese ... nope, sorry, can't even imagine it.

If you were to tally the "offensive" content in all seasons, Americans have far more reason to be offended by South Park than the Japanese, although I am sure this point will be lost on the oversenstive types who make a living off being in a permanently offended state. Anyone who gets offended at South Park has a serious problem with their priorities.

Whatever crazy dudes are whining, we Japanese never stop whaling as long as they oppose to. Yeah, we do whaling because those crazy dudes oppose to it.

I couldn't believe the episode, it was pretty fucking funny. The ending was absolutly priceless. I am more surprised that the actually bothered to make an episode about it then anything. I guess being in the animation buisness they have to pay some attention to news from Japan.
I am not really sure where I am going, I just hope that when I get there, I can sit down because I am sure my feet will be tired.

That's because one of them (I forgot which one.. either Trey Parker or Matt Stone) studied Japanese while in college and he is somewhat fluent. At least he didn't end up beating off to anime and teaching Engrish like most of the FGs in Japan but made something out of his life.
