Latest Southpark

Postby canman » Fri Oct 30, 2009 12:20 am

Did anybody see the latest Southpark episode. Kyle goes to an aquarium with his family for his birthday and they are swimming with dolphins. Suddenly a bunch of Japanese attack and kill all the dolphins shouting f#ck you dolphins. They keep doing it until the show up at a Miami dolphins game and kill all the players. Then they interview PM Hatoyama, who clears his voice and then screams, f#ck you dolphins.
I'm sure a lot of people will be upset by it, but I thought it was very biting humor. Here is a link to the material.

FF works perfect. Laughed my ass off at the Cartman Somalia Pirate episode (FatBeard). I work with some French guys and had to send it to them. Not amused.

Last summer, I was quite shocked to see a can of whale meat being sold in the basement of Sendai JR station. :(

Yes it is very bad that Japan still allows the killing of cetaceans, but lets not forget that North America and Europe also engage in this horrible practice:

Wiki Aboriginal Whaling
Wiki Modern Whaling

Making excuses for whaling for cultural reasons for aboriginal groups in Canada and US is no better than the excuses made by the Japanese, Danish (especial in Faroe & Greenland), Icelandic, Norwegian, etc. As a society, we don't accept cultural excuses for other traditional barbaric activities such as slavery, cannibalism, warfare, etc.

No doubt Japanese whaling is done to a much larger scale than other countries, but other people in other countries should focus most of their efforts in getting their own governments to get their act in order before they criticize Japan.

I think you might want to go visit a few factory farms and slaughter houses. There really is no difference in the level of barbarism, a point which was made towards the end of the full South Park episode.

The scale of whaling in Japan is much larger and Japan heads off 1000s of km from their own waters to do their whaling.

I don't have a problem with small scale whaling. Large scale whaling is an issue though, we don't understand much at all about the seas and we can't easily replenish whales if (when) we fuck things up.

Besides that though, it is foolish to eat whale or dolphin meat. We've been busily polluting the oceans on a vast scale for several hundred years now and that pollution builds up to extremely high levels in whale and dolphin meat. The stuff is toxic and isn't fit for human consumption.

The "online" version that requires your browser is much better than the one that requires the stand-alone player (I am not allowed to say what exactly because of the forum rules) because the cursing is not edited out.

It was a good episode, nonetheless.

Is that a Dutch flag on the Whale Wars boat?

The Steve Irwin is registered in the Netherlands, so that would make sense.

Our objective is to bankrupt them and we are doing just that.

Ah hah! So there is the real reason behind it all. They are nothing more than just a bunch of whiny anti-capitalists on a losing mission. I hope their boat sinks to the bottom of the Pacific.

That's been the stated objective on their website for years...no mystery there.

Sea Shepherd-

Fuel for the Steve Irwin: $260,000
New biodiesel wave-piercing trimaran: $1.5 million
Reactionary supratitles on a Japanese-subtitled video of South Park: priceless

Show the whalers how much you love them, all over again...

But a lot of the reactionaries were praising the ending...

I thought this was a great show because it took this piss out of everyone. Brilliant satire!
