Anyone who does work related to IT should know who he is immediately. Everyone else...probably not. As SJ pointed out, he's Linus Torvalds, the guy who created the original Linux kernel.

I think a lot people in IT or those who pay attention to technology and business trends would know his name but not necessarily his face. It's not like he's Bill Gates or Steve Jobs.

I use linux since the days were just trying to install was a month long journey and was linux sysadmin in a previous life(*)... But I never cared aboot what the guy looked like...
