Sony VAIO L touchscreen humiliates presenter on live TV (video) via Engadget

You know what they say in show biz: never work with children, animals, or gadgets. And if you must, make sure that you test drive your consumer electronics before going live. As you can see in the video (after the break), the kids on one overseas morning show failed to heed the last bit, to humorous results. For our part, we're inclined to believe that the unresponsiveness of the Vaio L All-In-One touchscreen herein is pilot error of some stripe, but either way the man on screen handled it like a real pro. Besides, we've seen far worse bloopers on Japanese television -- really, after the whole Yukio Mishima seppuku mess, it's hard for us to take any of this stuff too seriously. Video(s) after the break.

Pathetic amateurs! They should have asked the master of touch-screen wizardry! Bow all! I mean, they don't call him John "King" for nothing. When in doubt, ask the master.

Gotta admit, he sure makes it look sooooo easy.

As someone who keeps a meat cleaver by the computer to lop off the hand of anyone who puts their greasy fingers on my monitor, I just haven't gotten on board this whole touch panel movement. While it may be fine for a handheld device like the iPod, the way these guys are using the technology looks guaranteed to cause shoulder pain and wrist cramp after the first couple of minutes.

What I could see working would be going back, quite literally, to the drawing board: having the display facing up from the table at a much more ergonomic angle. For the time being, however, it looks like they've tried to create something that looks cool while completely ignoring how people actually use their computers.
I have a blog. Last update: August 18, 2013.
