Another Creepy Japanese Video Game

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Wed Nov 18, 2009 11:43 am

Does new video game take virtual dating too far?

Love Plus is a dating simulation that lets you court several different virtual girls. If you play your cards right, one of them will start to fall for you.

And that's precisely where things go from odd to just plain icky.

As you grow closer, you'll need to take your new fake girlfriend out on dates -- in real time ...

An interview posted on BoingBoing revealed more sordid details about Love Plus, as told through the experience of happily married San Francisco man Koh and his happily not-a-real-person-at-all girlfriend, Rinko. When asked what they did together, Koh lent some insight into their awkward relationship:

"Ok, this is pretty embarrassing. The DS has a mic and a touchscreen, so... one time, she asked me to say 'I love you' a hundred times into the mic. I was on the airplane when she asked me that, so I was like, no way. There was also this part where you have to hold her hand on the touchscreen. If you touch her hand with the stylus, you get to hold her hand. And then there's the part where you have to kiss her." ...

Love Plus has caused quite a stir in Japan, as some wives have complained that their husbands are effectively 'cheating' on them by spending too much time with their virtual significant others.

Its not a real game unless there is a simulated rape or train molestation.

You've got to love the question asked in the title: Does new video game take virtual dating too far? As if virtual dating in and of itself wasn't already going to far.

You got to realize, for some guys this might be the only way the can comfortably "relate to someone." I am sorry but this is sick, sad, and pathetic. It is going to be very interesting to see what happens with this country down the line if shit like this keeps up.

A real woman, are you crazy? There are no cheats, walkthroughs, or checkpoints with those, how the fuck could you pull off such an amazing feat? Plus with those I hear it is a pay-to-play system and it gets expensive after a while, with the game, its a one time expense.

Yahoo has an interesting video about some guy marring a video game charater. Does it get any sadder than this?

Hey! whatsa matter Hair, don't you know how to handle women? You just have to use a simple technique to get their attention....

http://www.mahalo.com/man-marries-game-character
On November 22, 2009 a Japanese man called SAL9000 got married to his dream woman, Nene Anegasaki. So far nothing new, people marry all the time. However, this woman happens to be built up out of pixels. Nene Anegasaki is a game character from the game Love Plus, a Japanese dating simulation. The man had to go to Guam to find a priest who would conduct the ceremony. The marriage is not officially recognized.
Strangely enough, this man is not alone in his desire to marry a virtual character, 3500 people have signed an online petition to legalize marriages between man and two-dimensional characters.

Awesome, more for the rest of us.
