[/floatr]There has been a recent outbreak of purse snatching in the centre of Nagoya. The muggers have been targeting women walking alone late at night so the police have been prompted to come up with an unusual solution. They have asked four officers to dress in drag, carry brand name handbags, and walk the streets in the hope they might be accosted. All four have martial arts training and patrol with support teams nearby to assist. Currently, they have gone out seven times without incident. A police spokesman said there were a number of volunteers for the job but most of the candidates looked too obvious to pass even late at night. TBS has a short video report in Japanese here.
