Evangelion Material Used In JLPT Level One

Postby Mulboyne » Mon Dec 07, 2009 10:35 pm

[YT]k1dmTTWlfZQ[/YT]

Roy from Mutant Frog spotted the fact that one question in the recent JLPT Level One listening comprehension section included a clip from Evangelion. You can see a translation of the dialogue and question here. According to that link, the trick in the question assumes that people not only realize the clip is from Evangelion but also that they know enough about the series that they could easily be confused if they aren't paying attention to what is actually being said.

I know nothing about the show - and although there are much better examples they could of used, I don't think you need to have seen to show to be able to answer the questions.
I broke a mirror this morning, which means I should be getting 7 years of bad luck - but my lawyer says he can get me 5.

I took this test on Sunday, and the Evangelion question was the last one on the listening section. It wasn't a very difficult question, the only hard part was paying attention and trying not to laugh.

What's fucking retarded is the set up. Listening to a drama on the radio? Really?

Chicken with the golden eggs... retarded yes... POS... yes... barely hidden pedoporn yes... but they are milking that crap for the last 15 years and it's still selling... on the same storylin with more plotholes than my underwear and without even a conclusion.

So... can understand that it's part of a comprehension test... Now for the harder level they surely include voice instruction from a car GPS...

Your underwear has plot holes? Interesting.

That doesn't sound like the voice actors from Eva, although I can believe that someone might have recorded the same dialog for JPLT.

OTOH, I'm pretty sure I nailed that one... I must be ready to take Level 1.

To be fair, that was the easiest question on the test.
