Postby Taro Toporific » Mon Jul 28, 2003 6:23 pm

Image Wish-making ceremony held in Ehime
NHK TV / July 28
a traditional wish-making ceremony involving cucumbers at a Buddhist temple in Toh-yo city, Ehime prefecture...
The 300-year-old ceremony is held every year on Doyo, the hottest day of the summer, in the Japanese old calendar...
The cucumbers containing people's wishes were buried in soil at the altar after a 30-minute prayer. All seven thousand cucumbers prepared by the temple were gone by the end of the ceremony.
