A 911 emergency call was made at 8am local time at a home listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department told the website. No way is this death due to natural causes...I'm sure the autopsy will reveal that. Weirdly, her husband allegedly stated he doesn't want an autopsy, but the Coroner's office will conduct one nonetheless....husband must have something to hide...

Well that's what I'm saying...it's tragic because it seems like this is an unnatural death...something that could possibly have been averted.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was due to drugs but some people do just die young for no good reason so we can't assume. Anyway, it has nothing to do with her death but this AP article has an interesting tidbit:

Murphy's father, Angelo Bertolotti, said he learned of her death from his son, the actress's brother, and was stunned.

"She was just an absolute doll since she was born," Bertolotti said from his Branford, Fla., home. "Her personality was always outward. Everybody loved her — people that made movies with her, people on a cruise — they all loved her. She was just a regular gal."

He said he hadn't heard much about the circumstances of Murphy's death. Bertolotti divorced her mother when Murphy was young and hadn't seen Murphy in the past few years. He said he used to be in the mob and served prison time on federal drug charges.

Indeed anything is possible but she didn't suffer a heart attack, but rather full cardiac arrest at 32...that seems odd. Moreover, she had been looking much more gaunt recently. The truth will out.

Jewish law forbids autopsies. Is he supposed to make an exception and be in favor of one just so people on the internet don't accuse him of having something to hide?

Do you think it's strictly on religious grounds though? Just sayin'. EDIT: Moreover, she was not raised as Jewish although her husband is.

Stephen Gately of Boyzone died at 33 of pulmonary oedema. There is currently a controversy in the UK because journalist Jan Moir wrote an article just after including comments such as:
...The news of Stephen Gately's death was deeply shocking. It was not just that another young star had died pointlessly...All the official reports point to a natural death, with no suspicious circumstances. The Gately family are - perhaps understandably - keen to register their boy's demise on the national consciousness as nothing more than a tragic accident...Whatever the cause of death is, it is not, by any yardstick, a natural one. Let us be absolutely clear about this. All that has been established so far is that Stephen Gately was not murdered..

There was outrage at this article and Moir is currently subject to a Press Complaints Commission enquiry.

I'm as much as internet ghoul as the average man but the Gately story has probably made most people in Britain hold fire on guessing what has happened in a young death because Moir's unfounded speculation hurt the dead man's family enormously. There could very well be something unsavoury behind the death of this actress but, as SJ notes, it might just be a tragic bit of misfortune.

No doubt. It is a definite possibility. Once the post-mortem and toxicology results are published I am sure a clear pathology will be established if she did succumb to natural causes. Until then I concede it's all speculation.

Brittany Murphy's husband found dead
By Alan Duke, CNN

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- The widower of actress Brittany Murphy was found dead at his California home just five months after his wife died.

British screenwriter Simon Monjack was found dead Sunday night in Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Monjack, 39, was pronounced dead after the Los Angeles Fire Department was called there for a medical emergency, according to police.

His cause of death was not immediately known.

Murphy, 32, died in December from a combination of pneumonia, an iron deficiency and multiple drug intoxication, a coroner said. The drugs involved were legal and used to treat a respiratory infection, according to an autopsy.

The often bubbly, free-spirited actress appeared in films such as "Clueless," "8 Mile," "Don't Say a Word" and "Girl, Interrupted."

She also lent her voice to animated works, including the movie "Happy Feet" -- in which she also sang -- and a regular role on the animated TV series "King of the Hill."

The couple had no children.
