I blame my 2nd german teacher... the first one was a batshit insane Hitler fangirl... she was playing vinyl recording of his speech during lectures... (by french law even possession of said recordings was illegal... public broadcasting a nono... so using them as teaching material in catholic school.. I let you guess...)

But the second one was a wonderfull die hard -dreamer- communist. worker paradise, money is made to be spend and so on... She was bringing the class to the "fete de l'humanite" every year in september... full of old white haired/bearded dreamer... and BBQ stands everywhere... Had 2 sons, both journalists, both killed 2 years appart, one in Chechnya the other one in Moscow. Completely went of the radar after that. Still searching for her, but I don't thing it will bring any good news...

sorry to hear about the teacher.

as a child i was a good young pioneer, still have my red scarf somewhere in storage. and i was going to grow up to be a good communist too. but then the world fell apart and communism was no longer a viable option. i have great respect for what my country tried to achieve, but i also understand what and how it failed. sure, i long for the days of my childhood and teen years sometimes when it was all for one and one for all, but that will never return and morons like this SS are just as bad as nazi sympathisers.
