Postby GuyJean » Thu Dec 31, 2009 7:46 pm

At home, staying warm.. Is there any type of Pride or K1 tournament on? I thought they used to televise tournaments on NYE.. Maybe I just imagined it..

edit: Nevermind. I guess it's Dynamite:

Oh!.. Some J-no-name just snapped another J-no-name's arm.

Was kind of strange; the winner was flipping injured-no-name off, to his face, as he lay on the mat with his arm twisted backwards. Must've been some bad blood..

(looks like it happened earlier; they're reviewing the evening's fights.. Might've been the first fight of the night.)

Or Bob Sapp or Bobby Orogon. With no clean K-O, it was pretty weak this year.

Who is it? I'm flipping around and paid little attention.

The guy with the busted elbow had a mohawk with tiger striped hair. The elbow breaker looked pretty average. Not much like a fighter, but had skills on the ground..

Aoki was the breaker. Not much of a striker, but VERY slick on the ground.

There were a couple of KOs. Probably the best one was when this big tall brother from The Netherlands knee'd beer-belly Fujita in the forehead and totally knocked his dick in the dust.

Thanks. Any background on why he was flipping the 'brokee' off?

MMA Fighting: Dream Reprimands Aoki, Who Admits He Was 'Rude'
Shinya Aoki gave Mizuto Hirota a broken arm when Hirota refused to tap out from Aoki's hammerlock submission in their fight at Dynamite 2009, and then Aoki gave Hirota a middle finger on top of it. It was a classless act from Aoki, and Dream event producer Keichi Sasahara said afterward that Aoki was reprimanded for his antics. For his part, Aoki said, "After my fight, I was excited, and so I did something rude that I should apologize for. Aoki also described what it felt like to fracture his opponent's humerus:

"When I had his arm behind his back, I could feel it popping," Aoki said. "I thought, 'Well, this guy's pride just won't let him tap, will it?' So without hesitation, I broke it. I heard it break, and I thought, 'Ah, there, I just broke it.' I was stopped afterward, but even if I hadn't been, continuing to break it more would have been fine by me."

Aoki is Dream's biggest star, so there will be no discipline beyond that reprimand. In fact, Sasahara is already talking about his big plans for Aoki's 2010, which is likely to include a bout with Tatsuya Kawajiri in March and possibly a fight against Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez later this year. Among the elite fighters in MMA, few stay as active as Aoki. His win over Hirota was his fifth fight of 2009, and he said he'd like to fight at least seven times in 2010.

Other sports suspend, ban, fine their athletes. Something should be done to this guy. If nothing else, I hope somebody breaks his arm.

I can't stand shitty sportsmanship. Hope someone breaks his arm.. Maybe he and Tyson should 'fight'. They deserve each other.

Giving the guy the finger was a shitty thing to do, but breaking an arm in MMA is fine if the other guy refuses to tap. If you have a guy in a submission hold and he won't tap you have two choices: finish him off or let him go and possibly reverse the situation and beat you. Few if any fighters would choose the latter.

Not tapping out is and forcing someone to injure you is the worst form of sportsmanship in MMA.

Personally, I think Hirota was probably a bit lucky....
Where I come from, when a dickhead sportsman (and practicing Mormon) gives an opponent the finger, he sticks it up their arses....

I agree. I was speaking of his actions after the breaking. There's no need for that bullshit..

Except, as Take pointed out, this is normal conduct for a Yakuza controlled establishment.. But wait. Isn't Japan a Yakuza controlled 'establishment'? :p

In Japan, the bullies win. It's unique. :D

Fujita lost to Crocop, too, due to a vicious knee strike.

Fujita looks to have lost a lot of muscle. At one point I think he was even more ripped than this picture below:

Do they test for steroids in 'Dream'? (Probably silly question).. Overeem looks like a roid monster.

but when CroCop kneed him he didn't even seem dizzy, just badly cut. They say a fighter can gradually lose their "chin"...

as for the rippedness, he's obviously reduced his roid intake, or the fight was short notice and he couldn't get a full cycle, as they don't test in Dream.
