[floatr]Image[/floatr]Mainichi: Woman arrested after driving 7 km with pedestrian in windshield in fatal hit-and-run
Police arrested a 23-year-old woman after she hit an elderly woman with her car and drove approximately seven kilometers to her home with the woman implanted in the windshield of her car. According to Tochigi police, Michiko Sato, a vocational school student, is suspected of hitting 80-year-old Shige Ami while driving on National Route 293 in the city of Utsunomiya around 4 a.m. on Sunday, leading to Ami's death. Sato is said to have told police: "I panicked and didn't know what to do." After driving home, Sato sought advice from a 24-year-old male acquaintance, who called police at around 5 a.m. When police arrived on the scene, they found Ami already dead with her head stuck in the broken windshield.

Weird. Just yesterday I was reading about this 2007 movie starring Mena Suvari which was inspired by a true story. People are fucked up.

A lot of old people sleep less than the young and middle aged. Some like to walk in the early hours for exercise. It's not uncommon to see people walking at that hour. Some us are just on the way home from the bar, others are just up and out of bed.

True. The few times I've had to get up early and ride on the Arakawa bike path at 4-5am there have been dozens of people already up and walking along the river.
I have a blog. Last update: August 18, 2013.

That's true Sub, but you've never cruised home with a noggen sticking through your front window because you didn't know what to do with it...
They gotta give this broad 20 years for openers just for inflicting severe dumbness on the general public for having been born.

My anywhere from 4-7 a.m. walk home from the bar scene is through some parkland in the burbs. Chock full of oldtimers. I wonder how many never make it because they got run down crossing the road...

And some like Greiji are on the way home from a bar and looking for tail along the Arakawa bike path.

As stupid and clueless as the 23 year-old woman might seem to us, I can understand a little bit how she might have gone into a mild form of shock - and basically drove for about 8.5 minutes (if we assume 50 km/h) before realizing she had to stop. I've seen people go into similar forms of shock on the street, but as pedestrians, they simply stand there open mouthed. State of entropy.

With all the shit she had on the dashboard and the stuff hanging from the rearview mirror I am not at all surprised she hit a woman, it would be good if someone somewhere brought attention to the danger of those things. I am still very puzzled as to why she decided to continue driving with the woman in her windshield but I am pretty sure the driving schools in Japan are now making damn sure that people know what to do if you do hit someone. This kind of stupidity is embarrassing on an international level.
I am not really sure where I am going, I just hope that when I get there, I can sit down because I am sure my feet will be tired.
