ANA To End Free Drinks

Postby Mulboyne » Sun Jan 31, 2010 7:00 am

[floatl]Image[/floatl]All Nippon Airways has announced that, from the 1st April, only water and green tea will be provided free to coach class customers on domestic routes. The airline will begin charging for soft drinks, coffee and soup which are currently gratis. For instance, satsuma juice will be 500 yen, Darjeeling tea 300 yen and onion gratin soup 500 yen. There are also plans in the pipeline to sell Starbucks coffee but pricing is yet to be decided.

So by not serving soft drinks they figure to save what, 40 bucks on a flight? And in the process piss off customers for lack of service. Sounds like a great plan to me.

If they want to save money, they ought to just skimp on other things that don't directly affect customer experience. I'd suggest slashing the budget for Stewardess uniforms down to an outfit consisting of a 2 piece bikini. Either that, or just cut out uniforms all together. :D

Actually, that would only improve customer experience. It's a double win!

This seems to be really petty if you asked me. Do they figure,"well JAL is bankrupt, so we can do anything we like and sheeple will still fly with us, no matter how we try to piss them off".
On another note, Dimwit James and Lurker, have you noticed the cost of the airport fees for using airports in Canada. What a rip off. Y20 000 for using Pearson and Ottawa Int'l. What is up with that. I am so pissed. But what are you going to do, fly Delta through Detroit? I think not!

Humm... they were not free drinks... It was more like drink bar at Bikkuri Donkey. The price of the plane ticket included the drink bar... It no longer do...

With interdiction to bring liquids onboard, they can pull this kind of shit quite easily...

I don't know when the madness will stop... But the more it goes the more I think my next trip to France will be by boat... 2-3 month at sea will be great to catch up on some readings...

The taxes are generally only for passengers whose travel originates at a given airport. I go through Vancouver but AFAIK I don't pay Vancouver airport tax. KIX is 2600yen AFAIK. 20,000 seems pretty high, are you sure that is correct?

Delta is starting a KIX to Seattle flight, I am thinking seriously of using that instead of Air Kanuckistan which now only flies out of Narita. No direct flight from KIX to Vancouver really, really sucks.
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Failing that, have you considered the Transsiberian Express from Vladivostok to Vienna? Not as thrilling as during the time of the borderguards with big hats but quite a bit faster :shroom:
