Mainichi: Teen apprehended for riding double on bicycle in Nagano
A teen has been apprehended for violating the Road Traffic Law for repeatedly riding double on a bicycle, police said. Police apprehended the 15-year-old, whose name has been withheld because he is a minor, following an incident in Suwa over the weekend. Law enforcers said they had not heard of any cases of people being apprehended for riding double in the past 20 years. Investigators accuse the 15-year-old of illegally riding double on a bicycle with a friend on a road in front of JR Kamisuwa Station's west exit at about 2:15 p.m. on Saturday. When a police officer tried to question the teen, he allegedly fled for about 300 meters before being apprehended. The 15-year-old had been previously warned for riding double in Suwa on May 16, police said.

Riding home at night, I've been seeing a lot of cyclists getting stopped by police lately. I keep waiting for the "riding while gaijin" stop that I hear is inevitable, but the cops never give me a second glance, even when they're very obviously staked out looking for cyclists.

It's always someone who's riding at night without lights, riding double, riding through oncoming traffic, sailing through red lights, or some combination of the above. It's funny how many of them give me dirty looks when I ride by without getting stopped while they're being lectured. Sorry, dumbass, don't blame me for actually wanting to keep myself alive.
I have a blog. Last update: August 18, 2013.

Bicycle seat selection

Postby Greji » Tue Feb 09, 2010 5:43 pm

The J-police should also be required to give instructions on seat color selection.
It prevents misunderstandings.....

Actually, if that photo had been taken in Bangkok or Pattaya, there would be NO misunderstanding...
