Mainichi: Married couple arrested on same day for unrelated crimes
A husband and wife here were both arrested Tuesday for completely separate crimes, one for theft and the other for embezzlement. "In more than 30 years as a police officer, I have never seen such a thing," said one senior officer with the prefectural police. Masaya Takahashi, 46, was arrested on suspicion of stealing a portable game console from a parked truck on Jan. 26. His wife Nobuko, 39, was arrested on suspicion of embezzling about 2 million yen from her company's reserve travel fund while she was an accountant at her former firm from September 2005 to April 2006.
