The police have announced the creation of a new committee to counter what they see as a rise in "globalized crime". This appears to include foreign criminals entering Japan for a heist and then fleeing the country. The main aims seem to be to centralize data collected by regional forces, increase information sharing with agencies in China, Korea and South East Asia as well as to strengthen co-ordination with Interpol. More specifically, the police plan to increase contact with foreign communities in Japan and encourage them to be vigilant about the appearance of criminals in order to reduce the chance that they will find a safe haven from which to operate. There's also a mention that police plan to step up attempts to recruit naturalized citizens to the force.
