nukes in the harbor, violation of a hallowed postwar principle

Postby Christoff » Wed Mar 10, 2010 5:20 am

TOKYO – Japan confirmed Tuesday secret Cold War-era pacts with Washington that tacitly allowed nuclear warships in Japanese ports in violation of a hallowed postwar principle, effectively acknowledging that previous governments had lied about them for decades.

The US needed a place to station their US ships, its not like they are going to take the US nuclear arsenal off the ships every time before they port in Japan, it would take a pretty gulible person to believe that was what they were doing during the Cold War. But I am pretty sure what the Japanese people are most upset about is the LDP caving into the US and allowing the breaking of the 3 nuclear priniciples, but given the times the rationale behind such a secret agreement is easy to understand.
I am not really sure where I am going, I just hope that when I get there, I can sit down because I am sure my feet will be tired.

This is the only thing that kept China from steam-rolling Japan. Only a retard would whine about having a few hundred nukes in ships stationed in harbors.

It's not like we built an ICBM base in Japan.

The three principles were put inside the Four-Pillars Nuclear Policy : the fourth pillar left room for policy change in the future, calling for Japan to abide by the principles "under the circumstances where Japan's national security is guaranteed by the other three policies" ... which kind of means "unless we don't want to".

Great bit of spin !

I think down the list of country who would like to @ssr@pe japan, North Korean would be first, then... South Korea... Russia (that Kurile thing...), and certainly quite a few others...

Look at a movie like Hanbando... feels like some in SK are just waiting for an excuse...

China has always been the biggest threat, in terms of military strength versus proximity. Although North Korea is more likely to start something.

That's what's called lying with statistics...

If you look at the numbers... yes you have a point...
If you look at your window... nope... not so much...

Radioactive waste in the harbor - courtesy of...Londonistan!

Shipment of nuclear waste arrives from U.K.
The first delivery of at least 850 canisters of high-level radioactive vitrified waste arrived Tuesday morning by ship from the U.K. in Rokkasho, Aomori Prefecture, where it will sit in storage for decades before being buried deep underground.
