Apparently he has been in Japan for decades so you can assume the 40 victim count is just a starting point for Peter Phil Handihanz. The problem is that with crimes that are 20 or 30 years old it is hard to prosecute them as the victijms have grown up moved away and more difficult to trace.

As to him being guilty they have seized his video/photo collection which contains photos of nude students I don't think there is much question of his guilt.


The thing that gets me so far is the subdued response of the Japanese media. If it were Canada this would be front page news. It was on page 2 in the Yomiuri today and I haven't heard much of it on the wide show this morning.

I'm a little surprised myself, but thankful at the same time.
With all the perceived Japan bashing that's going on lately – whaling, Toyota, political dissing, etc. – I would have thought this issue would have been assigned "see how fucked foreigners really are" status almost immediately. There has been plenty of condemnation of the west and westerners in general in other areas though.

Still, what this guy has done is pretty serious, and deserves an appropriate punishment.
