all the best

McTojo, I am hesitant to even bother replying since I think you must have written the above (like most of your posts) while on drugs. But you are not even close to understanding what Dujarric is writing about. He is not advocating for any kind of cultural change. And he's certainly not stating that any kind of cultural change would make Japan a better place.

His argument is economic. He believes that the economy and changing demographics are going to lower living standards in Japan, generally making life worse for everybody. He thinks that increasing "cultural awareness" is a way to improve the economy.

It's getting pretty hard to deny the economy is in the shitter and living standards are headed downward for Japanese. Obviously Japanese people don't want that. Whether "taking the wall down" will improve the economy is a question where one might legitimately disagree with Dujarric.

But telling him "fuck you" because you think he is an "integrationist" and thinks foreign culture is superior just makes you look silly. That is not what he said.

Literally, I mean I don't socialize. I'm either in my room or at an onsen or drinking.

He claims that Japan's influence is diminishing. This is not true at all. The scathing rebuke I gave toward RD was intended to drive home a point, and that is Japan should not have to acquiesce to international pressure over its economy because its demographic is incompatible with a more productive economic model. No country fully opens its doors to foreigners, not even in North America where millions of undocumented workers live in fear of being deported. Is there an economic incentive for N. America to turn a blind eye to its immigration problem??....and for cultural reasons...? Is it because N. America makes up 5% of the world's population yet controls 50% of its wealth?

Cultural isolation didn't hurt Japan during its heyday in the seventies, nor is it hurting it today. Japan does business with the world like it always has, the only problem is that there's a growing lost generation of ignorant Japs who lack vision and understanding of their own culture!! F%##k other cultures!

Never criticize anyone until you've walked several kilometres in their shoes.
Because

1. You're now several kilometres away; and

2. You've got their shoes.

McAlpine is a Black bloke from the US. How do I know? Cause I lurk around on gaijinpot, have for a long time but don't post there. Yeah, he used to give me the shits but I don't mind some of his writing.

Re the topic -Japan IS getting old and rundown, a fucking shame because it's the country that gives me decent gigs and a decent life. No doubt it's in terminal decline because its missed the boat for getting in foreigners who would have contributed financially and socially. All the fucking emptying schools and the decaying smaller cities are getting a creepy look.

All these old fuckers wandering into the local hospital and fucking wasting our taxmoney, all these ol silver mofos who are more and more dependent on a tax base that's getting smaller by almost the fucking minute, all their entrenched ways that are gonna stop any real political dynamism from emerging.

This is where McAlpine is well off the track, it's a slow suicide of the economy, dynamism and will. In my country Australia (where people are now waking up to the fact that big business doesnt give a fuck that people from dysfunctional cultures living in the past immersed in their tribal mindsets have come in numbers that are too big - they just want generations of consumers buying their products) we weren't picky enough.

For a while we just let everybody who want to bring their narrow home culture to Oz and transplant it but want our social and economic benefits when it suits them, come in. Both parties did it and it was even kind of admitted that Australia was supposed to be some fucking place where China's and India's surplus people could come. That shouldnt have been the purpose of letting people in.

Aussie though have started to kick up about not being able to afford houses for rent or sale and all the other crap that comes with letting newcomers in to prime urban areas instead of making em go to less populated ones. They're getting pissed off in time about problems that the UK's got and want people who can adapt and not expect the benefits while rejecting the established culture.

Now THAT's an uneven relationship. But Japan's done nothing but show why it's decaying. It should have encouraged people who came to do some shit like eikaiwa but then wanted to start businesses etc to put down roots. It should have had an immigration program that targeted achieving or ambitious gaijin instead of Peruvians and Brazilians who just happened to have J blood but are about as fucking Japanese as a Glaswegian.

Japan's missed the damned boat and it's in terminal decline.

I think I have mentioned this in previous postings about me standing by and watching this beautiful country fall apart with my own two eyes, so no I'm not off track. I see these old fuckers walking around like mummies everyday on the bus looking for seats, I don't even stand up anymore. I just ignore them. These were the same people who were laughing at Mishima and were shunning the Emperor and old Japanese traditions. You cannot blame the young people for what they've become, blame the those old fuckers who had no fucking spine to raise these kids right. Blame them for trusting in Capitalism and for creating this false promise of a better tomorrow for their children, and then failing to deliver on those promises. Blame those old fuckers who taught their children to be ashamed of their own past by teaching them not to sing the Kimigayo. I feel no pity when I see their hands shaking on the hand rails waiting for somebody to give a fuck.

The Japanese man has let down the country! If a Japanese girl wants to dress like a whore because she can, because no man will ever say anything about it, then it's the Japanese man's fault Rob.

If Japanese women don't want to make Japanese babies and settle down to marry a Japanese man, then it's the Japanese man's fault! If she chooses to marry a Caucasoid it's not her fault, it's the Japanese man's fault. You can blame her for not feeling protected!!!!

Good Morning from Germany, which is falling as an economic powerhouse on a global scale. Germany’s trade surplus is gone. Foreign trade balance came in at MINUS €1bn in May, which is the 1st negative print since 1991 due to its energy problems & weakness in manufacturing.
