Oh boy ... this is going to be popular.
Gee, I think Japan should introduce a Korea tax, so that all Korean tourists are required to pay an extra 500 yen to see the temples in Kyoto, for example.

Tell all the Japanese tourists to claim they are Korean or Chinese.

I'd agree that this is a pretty nutty idea. But coming, as it does, from the "Daily Heil", I have some serious doubts about its factual integrity. The Mail, to put it kindly, prints some absolute bollocks.

No he didn't. And there is still no end in sight for their ongoing quest to classify all inanimate objects in the world into those that either cause or cure cancer. c. Dr. Ben Goldacre

Wow! A three legger? Japan offers an excellent selection of three holers, but a three legger would offer an extra furburger. What a lovely idea.....

The article indicates that Japanese tourists booked on these Beatrix Potter tours will be approached before they leave Japan. Describing it as a "tax" is probably somewhat of a disservice - brings visions of paying out something for absolutely nothing. For a little over Y700, they'll get a badge and certificate to boot - which makes it easy to market.

More importantly, it's not like they're going to single out Orientals on the streets of Hill Top demanding they pay some sort of Head Tax like the Kiwis and Canadians did with all the Chinamen at the turn of the 19th Century... although that would be pretty funny :p
