When it got too big for someone's aquarium they flushed it down the toilet?

I saw a wallaby for sale at a pet shop in Yokohama once.
Surprised the heck out of me, but there it was.
If there was one, there were probably more, so I guess the escaped pet theory is not too far a stretch.
