There is a subtle twist in Tokyo about dialect.
If you use Edo-ben in Tokyo area instead of standard Japanese, in many cases you will be regarded as vulgar, low-level education and low income. Why is using a birthplace dialect regarded as less dignity? pretty strange.
This phenomenon is seen in only Tokyo probably.
