Is there any sort of Toto soccer pool for World Cup like there is for J-league?

I haven't heard of one.

Italy are a goal down right now. If the group results stand, Italy will be out of the World Cup.

The relief of England fans is partly down to the fact that some of the other big names in Europe have struggled and we could so easily have suffered their fate. Personally, I didn't have a lot of confidence that we could go very far this year. Our qualification was quite comfortable in the end but we have always lost to top teams when we've played them in recent years.

Germany will be interesting. They are certainly good enough to beat us but anything can happen in a Cup game. I just hope that we don't get a player sent off again. God help us if it comes down to penalties.

Brilliant game by Japan! I predicted a very defensive game, were Japan barely won 2-1... But boy can they attack as well!

Whew, 3-1 for glorious Nippon. Third goal was a fantastic attack by Honda and Okazaki. Awesome!

OK, I looked it up.

Didn't realize Ireland was geographically closer the U.S. than England.

The British are from the island of Great Britain which composes England, Scotland and Wales.
English refers to those in England which is the southern part of the island.
So you CAN be British, but not English. The UK includes Britain as well as Northern Ireland which comprises the majority of Ulster which are 9 counties. 3 counties of Ulster are in Ireland which is the larger and southern portion of the island of Ireland.

So, as follows.
UK = Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales & England
Britain = Scotland, Wales & England
England = Southern portion minus a chunk in west
Ireland = Southern majority portion of the isle of Ireland.

That's bloody complicated. But now I understand more. Didn't realize I was so ignorant about it.

I thought I'd have egg on my face if Japan went through but England didn't. Quite frankly, after that performance, I've got egg on my face regardless of what England managed. I really thought Japan might lose all three matches. If my team had been in Japan's position and you'd offered me a draw with Cameroon, a 1-0 loss to Holland and a 3-1 win over Denmark, I'd have bitten your hand off to take it.

I hope this gives the game a boost in Japan because these are genuinely good results.

Rewatched the Japan-Denmark match...gotta say the Japanese crushed the Danes. One of the more unexpected but impressive matches in the tournament thus far.

Danich was an easiest opponent for Japan in Group E. I had understood it before the match started. Japanese soccer could have beaten 2nd or 1.5nd class European countries like Dane. The most dislike countries for Japan is Latin America and Africa. Anglo American never should pretend to be a soccer expertise.
