Fewer FG's for the first time in 48 years!

A friend of mine forwarded this article (Japanese) to me.

The main point is that the number of registered foreigners in Japan was down for the first time in 48 years last year. The overall reduction was only 1.4% but the number of Brazilians was down 14.4%. The number of Chinese was up by 3.8%. The article points out the obvious that it's a result of the crappy economy and especially the loss of jobs for Nikkei laborers.

so what you're saying is that crime rates should also be at their lowest and that japan is a safety country again?

That sounds about right James...
You should see a drop in crimes such as:
* Killing of citizens walking through Akihabara by car raids and/or stabbings.
* Less cult/gang affiliated criminal actions or behaviour.
* Bike theft.
* Illegal prostitution.

James is partially right.
Actually crime rate will be down in Tokai area and North Kanto area, which are main Brazilian habitats. Especially Brazilian of Tokai area is notorious to commit crimes after they were fired from Toyota, Suzuki, Yamaha.

I think is was 300 for the bread winner and another 200 for each dependent they took with them. Considering the price of flights to South America they probably didn't have too much left over once they went (not a criticism, btw, just sayin').

...'cause their use-by date had expired?

Japan paid them to leave to get rid of the undesirables without having to deal with international uproar.
