Aussies - fucking over coming

Postby rooboy » Sun Aug 08, 2010 8:48 pm

:mad2: :mad2: :mad2:
So I was looking at some shit on the net re the tax changes the fucking Labor Govt before made. They made it while that dipshit narcissist ex Prime minister Kevin was running amok with Joolia Gillard who thinks expats are gonna be so fucking masochistic they'd vote for her and Labor again.

To fellow Aussies did you know that the tax changes mean -

The Australian govt thru its Big Brother ATO will tax you although you pay tax to the Japanese govt and all the other govts that Aussies pay tax to throughout the world.

This is fucking Double Tax! It doesn't kick in after you earn a set amount like with Americans - you HAVE to pay the Aus govt what you'd pay if you were earning the same amount in Australia! You have to pay the difference. What absolute cunts!

So you end up paying the tax that you'd fucking pay in Australia WITHOUT GETTING ALL THE BENEFITS YOU GET IN AUS - cheaper health care, social security payments to help you with expenses like phone, rent, unemployment payments if your income goes down, cheap bus/train tickets etc etc.

Working in Asia we pay lower taxes because in some cases we get bugger all compared to Australia. My mate in Korea lives in a bumfuck province where there are no English language services available. Not at Immigration, not at city hall. There's no advice or help for anything, nothing.

In Japan there aint much for people who aren't married to a japanese but it doesn't worry me. But fuck it - paying tax like you'd pay in Aus when you get none of the benefits your tax would pay in Aus is just the actions of a bunch of absolute cunts who want to soak the average person.:mad2:

This new deal was supposedly aimed at expats who go out of Aus for short periods to work and don't pay any tax overseas and then come back. But somehow it winds up being about ordinary Aussies not working for corporations who pay tax in the country they work in.

How the fuck are expats who earn 30,000 dollars Aus and under comparable to business people flying in and out and in some cases paying no tax at all?

If any Aussies can tell me that this aint the case for expats who teach etc I'd be interested to know but this bunch of misfit Labor wankers calling themselves a Government are looking for new ways to screw us because they fucked up our budget and just about every other financial responsibility.

They also know that a lot of expats don't vote Labor - and what they've done is made sure I'll never fucking vote for em again. I've got an overseas postal vote and I'll be voting every non Labor candidate under the sun. Cynical cunts.

Your over reacting. You just have to show that you arent a resident for tax purposes. If youve been OS for a few years and have no on going concerns in OZ, you wont have to pay shit.

Hope you're right, Taka-Okami. But I've been reading about this shit on a few forusm for expats (not J ones) and its like the Rudd-Gillard Govt with their hatchet man Swan deliberately changed the ATO regs so expats like us in Japan, Korea, China (eikaiwa teachers or not) can easily fall into these new regs.:mad2:

Aus resident for tax purposes rules are still broad enough to include people who aren't employed by a company with an Aus base or office or who don't go on relatively short biz spells overseas. They're deliberately fucking open to soak ordinary income earners overseas.

Best was that bastard Swan bitching about how expats don't pay what they'd pay in Oz. Yes Wank Swine, thats cause we don't get benefits like we'd get in Oz for our taxes esp if you work in Japan and Korea. If you're on the nenkin for the 'self employed' you fucking don't get back most of it if you work longer than 2 years in Japan. Thats just a start.

Libs got my vote.

Question: How the hell is the taxman gonna get your money when you're in Japan?

They can't. But they'll be waiting for you at the airport the next time you enter the country.
So if you never plan to return you're cool!

Actually I'm not sure how much of a problem this is actually going to be for the average Oz expat. Needs looking into.

Just go to the ATO. Basically if you own a house in Oz getting rent, your fucked. But if you make no money in OZ, and have a fixed address in Japan, and only come back once a year to visit relatives, you wont have to pay any extra tax. Be careful though. IF you are gone more than 5 years without returning, you will be treated like a new resident have have a 2 year waiting period for medicare, and any gov benefits.

Couldn't see anything about a 2 year waiting period for returning residents on the medicare site.

I arrived back after almost 5 years without returning and they said I would have had to wait to re-apply if it had gone over 5 years. Maybe they were pulling my leg (this was medicare)

Sounds like bullshit to me. They gave me a medicare card no problem. How can they deny benefits to Australian citizens anyway.

You will need to provide documents to support your residency in Australia or your severing of ties with the previous country of residence if:

you are an Australian citizen returning to Australia to reside after living overseas for more than five years

you are a New Zealand citizen requesting enrolment as a permanent resident.

So I guess you only need to prove residencey to get it back.....

Everything I've seen suggests there are significant tax advantages to living overseas but owning property in Australia.

Interesting that on a web-site specialising on Aussie expat tax and investment issues that Rooboy's rant goes unmentioned. Maybe Rooboy is just a Rentboy for the Mad Monk.
