Crush on high school girl...

Postby latinoinjapan » Sun Aug 15, 2010 7:28 am

...there's a hot high school girl working at a convenience store near my place (I've seen her walking in the store in her uniform) and have the hots for her. We've smiled at each other and exchanged 'konnichiwas' and all...but I have hesitated to approach her...any advice...:wall:

Well, high school girls are not likely to be working at a convience store as most high schoolers are not permitted by the schools to have part time jobs. So, she is either a college student in which case she is fair game, or she is from a low level high school which doesn't care in which case she is probably far more experienced in matters of love then you are, urologist ahoy!

She smiled to you AND said "konnichiwa"?! She is BEGGING for it! In fact, all Japanese girls who work in convenience stores and smiles at you, are begging for it. Remember that!

This is what you do:

1. Enter the store
2. Buy a beer with a 10 000 yen bill
3. While she is counting your change, lean over the counter and grab her boobs. Do this when she's at the first 1000 yen bill.

If she stops you before reaching 5000 yen, it's only a role play. Don't stop.

Good luck, soldier!

And by the way, if you hear her say "irasshaimase", you may as well unzip your trousers on the spot.

Sorry I know of what I speak. In my city, of the twenty or so high schools, 15 have definite rules prohibiting students from working. Of the 5 or so that do allow it, all are low grade and one notices the large number of students with bleached hair and crotch high skirts.

No, let's say how much older.

If you're a teenager yourself, or around 20, then fine. Visit the store a few times, get familiar, and then ask her out. Just keep in mind that convenience store clerks smile and say "konnichiwa" to all of their customers. it's called "service with a smile." And if she says no or won't give you an answer, then forget it and leave her alone.

If you're 25+, just forget it.

You asked ... that's my advice.

Dimwit is dead on. Any reputable school will not allow its students to work, but the low level private schools don't really care what they do. But this being Japan, she could be 25 and still look like a teenager. When you say a tad older, how much older? If you are in your early 20's it is not that bad, if you are any older it could be trouble.
Also I'm surprised at the disrespect paid towards Dimwit. He knows of which he speaks.

If Mum & Dad run the shop as a franchise then their daughter might help out without running foul of school regulations. That would put a different perspective on the wisdom of hitting on her if the store is a regular visit.

This isn't true. At the public high schools I've worked at most kids have a PT job and convenience stores are a common place for them to work.

Granted, I haven't worked at any school of great reputation, but why assume the girl goes to such a school? I've worked at plenty of average public high schools in Tokyo and plenty of kids there have PT jobs.

I'm pretty sure local laws setting AOC are overridden by the national law which is 16.

Just make not sure to film it until she's 18.

Not talking about a school rep here. We're speaking of the level of academic excellence the schools expect of their students.

Schools in Japan run their students lives even while outside of the school and have rules for their conduct. These schools have entrance exams and parents pay high fees for their children to enter these schools.
These places also do home visits to see what the kids are up to outside of the school and what their home environment is like.

The longtimers on this board are people that have spent years in Japan and in the community and have had roots in the country. I'm not speaking of teaching English right out of college for 8 years either. They have families, businesses, Japanese business contacts and relationships in country. They've explored Japan and been places that hasn't seen a gaijin face in 40 years.

So if someone on this board says something is fact. It IS.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.

Also, even among public schools, the quality of Japanese high schools runs the gammut from "Central Harlem Warzone" to "Ultra Elite Charter School."

Elementary and Middle schools are somewhat more consistent in their quality, since you don't have to pass an exam to get into it, and they don't send you to "farming" "fishing" "industrial" schools instead of "college prep academic" schools for being stupid until you're 16.

What!? It is dead, it is entertaining or it is entertaining and dead?

Mulboyne is right about students helping in mom and pop shop. Additionally, student who have already been accepted into university can work with impunity. But neither condition applies here.

The reason why mid to high level schools did not permit students having jobs is twofold. First, they feel that high school should be concentrating on getting into the best university possible and working at a convience store is an obvious hinderence to studying. Second -and this goes right back to the start of the thread, they feel that 30 years guys screwing their students doesn't really help their repudation.

Can high school kids work or not?

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Mon Aug 16, 2010 3:31 pm

Basically, both side of this argument are correct. Most decent high schools (mid level and above) have rules against their student working but students don't necessarily follow those rules. Some schools also allow for exceptions if, for example, the partents request it because the family is poor and they need the extra income to pay for school. Remeber that public school ain't free in Japan, folks.

Before anyone tells that's bullshit I'd like to say I was an ALT at a public high school that was considred one of the better schools in the area and they had exactly that kind of rule. Most of my students told me they secretly had a 'baito and my supervisor told me about the exception for poor families. It's like rules about no make up, skirt length, brown hair, and riding scooters: a lot of students ignore them and only a small percentage get in trouble for such violations.

As for the first question, if she's legal go for it. If she's not, don't. They are plenty of other maguro in the sea.
