This caught my attention as well.
Interesting that the event was sponsored by Issuikai, a bunch of ultra-right goons whose main mission is to deny that Japan ever committed any war crimes, or has any responsibility for the war whatsoever.

As for the Euro-loonies who participated, perhaps Le Pen should try building a monument to Hitler and the gestapo in Europe somewhere.

Bruno Gollnisch, No.2 of French National Front, is FG. He studied in Kyoto Univ for a little while and married a Japanese wife. Probably he too had been bullied in his child days and escaped to Japan just like you dudes.
He is your mate.

Go tell Le Pen aboot it... he's a veteran of the War of Algeria, lost an eye there and will be more than happy to cook you on the gegene (official interogation protocol back then, take a wireframe springbox, tie a guy to it -wrist, neck and anckle- shower with salty water, take a truck battery, tie the (-) to the bed frame. Ask a question, and tie the (+) to the guy testicles as long as you don't like his answers).

Probleme these days... Le Pen says a lot of racist thing that get him -not- elected. Which in my book make him a nice racist... because he's darwinning himself out of the electoral loop... A Republic need these kind of clowns to remember what can happen if you're not carefull (see the 2002 presidential election)
Sarkozy meanwhile... Do what Le Pen said he would have done if he haz been elected... While claiming to be a good guy... It's a sort of 'clean hands' state racism... Not unlike passing the Patriot Act to protect Freedom... one of those "WTF!!??" moments...

And there's more:
http://www.economist.com/blogs/asiaview/2010/08/correspondents_diary

They all like Japan's strict immigration rules, which keep out almost all foreigners. Though most delegates stuck to euphemism and discretion, Alberto Torresano of the Spanish group Phalange didn't get the memo. "Immigrants are almost all lazy," he said. "They do nothing, they have no education. They become the mafia. It is very dangerous. I am so glad that we can get together, us nationalists. If this had happened 300 or 400 years ago, Europe would have been a better place."

Two more blog posts here:
Wacky ideas and dark thoughts: Correspondent's diary, day two

Thibault de la Tocnaye of France's National Front elaborately argued that climate change was a conspiracy to create a world government and foist immigrants into Europe. Andreas Moelzer of the Austrian Freedom Party (AFP) stressed that he had no objection to Muslims, so long as they stayed in their home countries. Krisztina Morvai of Jobbik in Hungary advocated for a global network of human-rights lawyers to aid nationalists everywhere who are "constantly silenced, threatened and punished."

The contradictions among delegates were comic. "We are not alone in our combat for a world of free and independent nations," exclaimed Pedro Lopes Frade of Portugal. "Only by fighting together will our efforts succeed."

Dietmar Holzfeind of AFP managed to perform a hat-trick. First, he urged the host, Japan's ultra-nationalist group Issuikai, to translate its newsletter into English—thus denying it its native language, and his. Then, after noting that the conference's translation headphones were made in his dear Austria, he recommended that the countries "intensify trade relations"—a shock to participants who had just raged against free trade. And no sooner did Mr Holzfeind caution all groups from adding "too many points on the agenda" since it would make cooperation difficult, did he attack the Kyoto Protocol. He called it an example of globalisation run amuck. But the Japanese take great pride in the agreement hammered out in their country, as they do their environmental efforts generally.
