Came to this forum as the posters seem to be a very well educated bunch that are versed in what it's like to be a gaijin in Japan.

Offhand, I have one question: is it legal to view internet porn in Japan, or is that arrestable?

As long as you do it in the privacy of your own home there is not really an issue with legality. Unless of course you are talking about snuff movies or something like that......
Japan is a major producer of porn...remember this is the home of bukkake, tentacle porn (both anime and with real octopi) and many other weird stuff.

Truly a fucked gaijin

Postby TheNYCSobaIncident » Tue Jul 20, 2010 11:49 pm

My vessel washed ashore Ingles without any hope of reprieve. The beloved bastards known as the Jesuit order have forced me to conspire with them but I have hope! Soon I will make it to the "free world" and deal in far less savory trade Ingles.

Or perhaps I'm fucked forever and destined to live my life here a financial analyst because the Jesuits deem it so. So is life...eh Ingles...

Hi everyone.

Just found this forum today - will prolly be around for a little while as I am planning to return to japan to live after an absense of a few years.
I lived in japan for over ten years before spending a few years in Thailand , and a couple of years back home in Australia.

I have decided to move back to japan for simple reasons. My friends there are great fun, I love the food and most other things about the place . Of course, including the women :)

money will not be an issue for me, but as I am single now, I am hoping to get an investment visa as I plan to buy several properties in japan. I would appreciate any advice from anybody who has experience in this.

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks yokahammer.

Yes, that's pretty much how I thought it was.

I thought there may have been some kind of visa for people who invest in property, but maybe I am wrong.

I think it will allow me to get back to back tourist visas easier, which will be fine at first as I don't plan on working for anybody. But I know I will have to sort something out if I wanT to stay long term.

I'm really kicking myself for not getting residency when I had the chance :(

It's not easy to get permanent residency here either. If you are married to a Japanese national and live together in Japan for about 5 years you can apply and will generally get PR. If you're not married to a J-national you generally need to be here for 10 years+ and it even then it isn't anywhere near a sure thing that you will get PR. (Both time estimates are general "rules of thumb" and YMMV depending on your situation.)

If you are looking for somewhere in Asia you can live based on your investments in the country then Japan really isn't the place for you. HK and Singapore are both a lot more investor friendly than Japan.

^ I lived in japan for 11 years, and could have got residency at the time, but didn't think I would return to live at that time. And yes, a girl was involved - which was the reason I threw all of my toys out of the pram, and moved to Thailand in a huff.

Times change, and like I say, I should have taken steps to get residency, but never mind. I have friends who can help, but I would like to do it on my own. Fortunately, I am financially stable and will not have to take on a job, which means I won't need a work permit.

HK or Singapore ? No thanks. I speak Japanese, and have a good bunch of friends in Tokyo, and to be honest, I have spent more time in Tokyo than I have any place in the world, so it feels like home..

I'm still young enough to play the field so I am looking forward to having fun wife searching!! :)

Hmmm...
Somebody left me a red blob with the remark
You suck! Go home, jackass
for the post I left above (two posts up)

why would somebody do that?

Either jealousy because I have money, or resentment because I said I want to find a Japanese wife.

Either way, who cares :)

No worries man, you are a true FG! I spoke to one guy yesterday, when he did his service here in Japan (navy guy) he said he had no interest in J-girls, at all.

Now he is married to one.

We gotta a couple defenders of mom and apple pie, Japanese style here. It's just a board, so don't worry about it. You'll probably get more before you're through:p

Heck, I don't care if some Japanese bloke has the shits because I want to go and spend my money in japan - and shag Japanese women along the way. I come from a part of Australia where there is a VERY large Japanese expat comunity. Japanese have it very good in cairns. They earn better money than what they could in japan, and get to enjoy living in big houses and driving on wide open roads. The Japanese males tend to stick to themselves, and mostly don't manage to make an effort to fit in with Australian society. And boy, do the get pissed off when you shag the Japanese women. and there are many dubious methods they use to gain Australian residency!!So yes, most of them are a bunch of arseholes, not worth bothering with..

My point is - I don't care if some Japanese guy doesn't want me in japan, as they make themselves at home in my country. Hypocrites..

Hey, another fuckedgaijin here.

I'm an aussie in Japan on a tourist visa. It seems the Gov. thinks one working holiday is enough and i should get a 'REAL' job and visa.

Figured i would mess around on the forums while i was unemployed and bored.

Postby redwaste » Fri Sep 03, 2010 4:18 am

Hello all,
not in tokyo yet, but will be from October 3rd. I'm going to UPenn but taking a semester in Hitotsubashi as an exchange student.
Also I happen to be djing and producing electronic music here and there. Played in Philadelphia and Seoul, and hope to continue mixing in Tokyo.

small question: is it legal to drink on streets there? and how's the drug scene?

yes you can drink on the street, drugs, it is there, but really expensive and punishable compared to the US (depends on state, but compared to CA... ya)

My sister-in-law's ex-BF is a DJ, said that the scene is not as cool as North America, and drugs influence on the crowd is not the same as the drugged crowd back home, but sort of the same. (I tried to quote that as close as possible)

Ask other ppl around here about the drugs, i don't really know from 1st hand. but liquor is cheaper, beer is more expensive, and drinking on the streets is ever so convenient.

If you are a smoker (tobacco), this is heaven for you.

As China and Japan continue on their divergent paths, it seems likely Japan will become a 21st-century Philippines or Thailand, and people like Take (if he indeed is Japanese) will be glad to have a cousin or aunt wh sends some badly-needed Chinese
remittance money home.
