Here's video footage of a group opposed to the screening of "The Cove" protesting at the home of Yoshiyuki Hasegawa, manager of the Yokohama New Theater. The clip above starts with the protesters appearing to pick a fight with Hasegawa's young son before standing outside to protest their rights to oppose the film. Later in the same clip, which continues below, they confront Hasegawa outside his cinema. A court ruled on Friday that protestors must not demonstrate within 100m of the cinema.

It looks like Hasegawa-san is fairly experienced with these kind of people.

I always felt that the standard english movie should have been released globally with japanese subtitles included.

If the aim was to get the message out to Japanese, let bittorrent/pirate bay etc do the distribution.

* The initial subs state that the movie was produced by Sea Shepherd. Got that wrong, didn't they.
* The guy goes to the theater manager's house early in the morning, screams at his son and mother and makes the mother cry. He then tells the manager that his mother was crying over this, and that he shouldn't make his mother cry. What a bastard.
* All the "so, you say you'll put your life on the line, well you'd better be really prepared to do so" bullshit sounds like a death threat to me. There are laws against that, even in this country.
* They claim that yelling and screaming through a bullhorn in the middle of a quiet residential neighborhood early in the morning is "freedom of speech." Haven't got a fucking clue, have they.

After all of that, whether they have a valid point or not isn't even an issue. They're just a bunch of arrogant fuckwit goons.

The incredible thing is that they're so sure of their righteousness that they produced and distributed this video themselves. Not very bright, are they.

I'm not condoning it, but simply predicting that there is a reasonable probability we may hear the wife of the Cove's distributor, Hasegawa-san, injured or killed in a mysterious hit & run accident while she is riding her bicycle. Or, Hasegawa-san himself fatally stabbed by an unknown assailants or multiple assailants. Of course, the perpetrators will probably not be found - but if they are, they will be "unrelated" to the original protesters ... by three degrees of separation.
