I've been listening to Fry's podcasts quite a bit lately.

When I got back home I kept chatting with my Japanese buddies on msn and such and thought that I was retaining the kanjis that I fought so hard remeber, since I was using them when chatting/mailing on a daily basis. But when one of my friends ask me to write the kanji for cat or blue or something simple like that it was completely gone from my hand memory. Oh well, it was an important wakeup call and I hit the kanji sheets once more (and still do) every once in a while to not loos my precious litte ones!

that makes perfect sence...

if you have ever done boxing/kickboxing or wrestling at a "higher" level than mediocre, you would recognize that most exersices that are done repetitively are done for "muscle memory".

This makes you do the movements naturally, like a sprawl, face guarding with your arm, or dropping your weight to a certain foot when you get wrapped up...

if you get an old fogey that never used a computer, i bet they can write an ok looking kanji just using their motor skills... cant clarify that, but try with your abc's and let us know
