Pilot Training schools or scene fixed wing flights over tokyo?

Postby Kagetsu » Thu Sep 30, 2010 12:28 pm

Just out of curiosity, as a PPL I'd love to have the chance to rent a light aircraft and do a quick overhead flight of Tokyo, but realise it'll not happen without certain qualifications for Japan airspace, and was wondering if there was a flight school or scenic flight company there (not rotorywing) that's worth checking out?

I would love to go in half if you plan on hiring a plane. Helicopters tend to be better though as planes usually wont let you take the doors off for photography.

What time of the day you doing the flyover? Also where are you planning on landing that plane?

I have no idea about Tokyo but in Osaka small planes tend to fly out of Yao Airport. I would imagine there is a similar sort of airport around Tokyo somewhere and that would probably be a good place to ask.
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Chofu. I think the airport has a few affiliated flying clubs. Here's one.

Apparently private flight in Japan is prohibitively expensive, which is why tons of aspiring Japanese pilots go to America to get their licenses.

I don't imagine they'd let a Cessna anywhere near metropolitan Tokyo.

Your best bet is to hook up with somebody from the US air base ...

and flights over Tokyo are alowed....

There's probably a few local air strips around the Tokyo region... I'd be happy to have people along, assuming everything checks out. I believe even with a PPL, without actually being endoursed in Japan, I'm not permitted to be pilot in command so an actual Japan based pilot will have to be in command.
I just wanted to add some fun stuff to my log book. ^_~

Okay, I've done a bit of research, and here's what I've managed to come up with (SFA, but possibly a good one).
